U.S. 301 PD&E Study

The U.S. 301 Corridor Study involved the development of an Florida Interstate Highway System(FIHS) system roadway through the Starke area of Bradford County. Prosser developed numerous alternatives and conducted an extensive public involvement program. Two design alternatives were recommended for further project development and environmental impact analysis. The urban alternative on the existing alignment included extensive landscaping and amenities to blend the roadway into the local environment. The rural alternative was designed as a limited access freeway. Monthly workshops were established with the Chamber of Commerce's 301 Action Committee and consensus alternatives were developed with a proactive program of public involvement.

A unique feature of the project is the incorporation of a special economic study of the possible effects of the rural vs. the urban corridor with the extensive interviews of local business activity and demographic analysis of end users to facilitate an economic plan for post project effects.
