Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs)

FCAs are an analysis of the condition of a facility in terms of age, design, construction methods, and materials. This work is generally conducted by a multi-disciplinary team of architects and engineers conducting field assessments and receiving valuable input from local facility engineering staff members. The information is entered into the web-based BUILDER software program. The Department of Defense (DoD) Construction Engineering and Research Laboratory (CERL) has adopted the BUILDER application which acts as a single enterprise solution to perform facility condition assessments on DoD’s facilities footprint that exceeds 2 billion square feet worldwide.

Our staff has recently completed two FCAs at JB Lewis McChord, WA and Redstone Arsenal, AL. These projects assessed over 9 million square feet using the Army Corps of Engineers SMS (Sustainable Management System) BUILDER program. We have also provided Facility Condition Assessments at Ft. Gordon, GA and Ft. Gillem, GA using the BUILDER program.
